The Tribe of Zebulun
"Zebulun will live by the seashore and be a sailor on board the ships, with Sidon on his flank." (Genesis 49:13)
Blazon of Arms: Sable a lymphad with sails furled flags and pennon flying five oars in action or on in base waves of the sea azure all in a bordure vert.
Jewel: Sapphire
The tenth son of Jacob, fifth in order of blessing, fathered a tribe which settled on a small territory between Rimmon and Sarid to the north of the Plain of Jezreel, landlocked in spite of the seafaring destiny predicted in Jacob's blessing. The land of Zebulun is notable for the fact that it contained the town of Nazareth, the home of the Holy Family and the place where HM the King grew up. The Tribe of Zebulun seceded from the House of David to join the Kingdom of Israel and was dispersed during the Assyrian Exile, never to return.
