The Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Universal King

HM Jesus (Yeshua), by the Grace of God and by Divine Right Lord and Messiah, Son of God, Hereditary King of the Jews and of Judah, King of Israel, Lebanon, Aram and All the Holy Land, Castellan of the Holy and Royal City of Jerusalem, Sovereign in the Holy Land of the Kings of Babylon, of Persia, of Macedon, of Egypt and of Syria, of the Hasmonean Kings and Ethnarchs, of the Caesars and Emperors of Rome and of Byzantium, of the Nabatean Kings, of the Tetrarchs of Galilee and Perea, and of the Ethnarchs of Judaea, Samaria and Idumea, Lord Protector of the Cities of Scythopolis, Ascalon and Raphia, Sovereign of the Christian Kings of Jerusalem, Supreme Custodian of the Waqf of Palestine and Sovereign therein of All Moslem Caliphs, Sultans and Kings, Guardian of the Covenants of God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Great High Priest of the Universal Church, Universal Sovereign

21st Regnant Successor of HM King David

As the God-Man Jesus has the power to forgive sins, since He is the Great High Priest of the Universal Church, to which belong all those from every nation, language and race whom He has chosen for eternal life. Jesus died for us while we were yet His enemies. All humanity is therefore called to repent of their sins and to receive from Him forgiveness and reconciliation with the Father of mercies.

To those who hear the Gospel of the Kingdom and believe it belongs the privilege that they know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, and that they be made sons and daughters of His Father. The Church is at one and the same time the Temple of Israel in which God is worshipped through His Incarnate Son, and the union of all who believe in Him, whether Jew or Gentile. Therefore the Church has from Christ His own mission to take the Gospel of salvation through the forgiveness of sins to the ends of the earth and to make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18). The Church also serves Israel as the custodian of the testimony to the Crown Rights of her King.

Crown of David ascribes titles to His Majesty specific to His Davidic heritage and to the local history of the Holy Land. To be included, a title must: (1) be expressly stated in, or be an accurate representation of, Scripture or Sacred Tradition as a theological or historical fact; (2) express the de jure sovereignty of David over the Gentile rulers of the Holy Land and their consequent tenure from the Crown of their possessions in the Holy Land; (3) refer to political communities located entirely or predominantly in the Patrimony of David or ruled from Jerusalem; or (4) otherwise represent accurately the role of Christ the King:

By the Grace of God and by Divine Right - "By the Grace of God" is a standard formula indicating that the King has no earthly sovereign; "By Divine Right" expresses that He holds the Crown from God alone, not from any earthly overlord or from any created cause. The second is unique to the House of David and indicates that the law that makes Him a King is of divine origin and cannot be repealed by any human cause whatsoever.

Hereditary King of the Jews and of Judah - His Majesty is the direct lineal descendant of the last of the reigning Kings of Judah, not of the non-Davidic Kings of Israel, and it is the title of King of Judah which accurately reflects the principle of historic and hereditary right. Likewise the title of "King of the Jews", which is expressly biblical and applied to Him from His Nativity (Matthew 2:2) and His Crucifixion (Matthew 27:37; Mark 15:26; Luke 23:38; John 19:19-22).

King of Israel and All the Holy Land - God has given sovereignty of Israel to David and his sons by an inviolable covenant (2 Chronicles 13:5). Jesus has always been by these titles the true Overlord of the State of Israel, in virtue of His possession of the Crowns of Judah and of Israel which His ancestor David acquired separately (2 Samuel 2:4; 5:3). Though still nominally separate, these Crowns are indissolubly united in the Person of the King, so that He has dominion over Israel as one undivided jurisdiction directly annexed to them. It is His office, by spiritual power, to rule and lead His Israeli and Palestinian subjects, to judge them and to fight their battles for them (1 Samuel 8:6,20). The Holy Land is distinctly named in order to safeguard the jurisdiction of the Crown over the entire Patrimony of David, and not merely over the territory of the politically organised State of Israel.

Castellan of the Holy and Royal City of Jerusalem - The City of Jerusalem, which did not come under Israelite control until it was conquered by King David himself, is the City of the Great King and, as such, is set apart within the Holy Land as holy in its own right. It is therefore fitting that the King should bear a distinct title with respect to it. Except for the Old City Jerusalem is not physically castellated or fortified - it has no need to be, since the all-powerful King is the trustworthy and strong defender of His beloved capital city.

Sovereign in the Holy Land of the Kings of Babylon, of Persia etc. - reflects the nature of Crowns to accrue historic titles with the passing of time and according to political events, Crown of David ascribes to Our Lord a number of titles which reflect Gentile rule over the Holy Land after the Babylonian Exile, and also the brief period of Jewish rule under the Hasmonean rulers from 142-63 BC. These attest to the unbreakable Sovereignty of David over the Holy Land according to the everlasting divine Covenant, even though his successors' lawful dominion may not have been politically realised nor socially recognised. Accordingly, these titles are merely de jure until the birth of Christ - thereafter His sovereign rule is necessarily effective by reason of His Divinity.

Special recognition is given in Our Lord's titles to His dominion in right of David over the Nabatean Kings, who possessed the Negev Desert during His earthly life, and over the Herodian Ethnarchs and Tetrarchs, in so far as they ruled territory within the Holy Land as the Patrimony of David. The Cities of Gaza, Ascalon and Raphia are also mentioned (since they were autonomous under Roman rule, and Our Lord is given the title of their Lord Protector as the Guardian of their civic freedoms. Scythopolis (Beth-Shan) was a member (and the capital) of the Decapolis, a league of ten free cities founded by Alexander the Great. Only Scythopolis was within the Holy Land as delimited in Ezekiel 47 - the other member cities were to the East of the River Jordan.

Supreme Custodian of the Waqf of Palestine etc. is the legacy of centuries of Moslem rule in the Holy Land and asserts supremacy over its Moslem rulers. The Waqf administers the Temple Mount the site of which was purchased by King David from Araunah the Jebusite (2 Samuel 24:18-25). It is the only part of his private estate which is identifiable today, and vests in Our Lord Jesus Christ under the private law of inheritance.

A Waqf is in Islamic law a trust established for religious or charitable purposes. Moslems - or at least many of them - believe that Palestine is a Waqf consecrated for the Moslem community for all time. In truth it has been established by God Himself and given to David and his heirs for the benefit of the civil community. The purpose of the title of Supreme Custodian is to attract the allegiance of Moslems of the Holy Land to David their King.

Guardian of the Covenants of God expresses the unique role of a consecrated Monarch in overseeing the relationship between His country and God and in leading His people in loyalty to Him. The national rights of Israel, in so far as they flow from the divine Covenants, are vested in the King as part of His Personal prerogatives, and their exercise is reserved to Him alone.

These are the least of His Majesty's titles, and for two reasons. Firstly, they are the only ones ever to have been held by mere men His illustrious predecessors. They are limited in jurisdiction and competence to the merely civil affairs of the nation of Israel, her land and her people. Yet at the same time the existence of the State of Israel, and His titles with respect to it, demonstrate the social reign of Christ the King and His supreme dominion over the civil order and over the community of nations.

Secondly, unlike His higher and universal titles which demand that He be served by all Creation, these special titles of Christ are the only ones in His possession which commit Him to serve His nation Israel, as though in the office of Head of State, for the sake of her temporal common good. The temporal common good of any nation is but a means to the end of the glory of God and of Christ. At the same time it is an end in itself relative to the civil authorities which must serve it. Though the supreme office of civil power for Israel is committed by divine law and hereditary right to Jesus Christ, He has in fact disposed it that His country shall be governed by earthly authorities in exactly the same way as other nations.

The rank and title of King of the Jews and of Judah, and the faculty for civil rule attached to them, belong to His Majesty as the legitimate and ever-living heir of the last of the earthly Davidic Kings, who was in possession only of Judah when deposed. The Crown of Israel and All the Holy Land is annexed by divine right to that of Judah, in view of God's promise to David, whom He appointed to be ruler of Israel and whom He promised that one of his descendants would sit on his throne to rule over the nation forever (2 Samuel 7:11-16; Ezekiel 37:15-28). Although the titles and the rights attached to them belong to His Majesty in perpetuity, they are active only on condition that a politically independent Jewish State exists by the providence of God, who determines the times and the places of every nation under heaven (Acts 17:26).

Jesus Christ has reserved to Himself the Royal office of civil rule in Israel, and also has the right to be acknowledged as King of Palestine in the event that a Palestinian State were to be created. He has done so for this good reason: that He wishes to show Himself to His people as the perfect example, to all civil rulers everywhere, of a patriotic Servant-King, who is also unfailingly just and merciful to all. He is a son of Israel in whom the virtue of patriotism - the special filial piety He has both for the people from whom He took flesh, and for those others with whom He shares His fatherland - is present in the most excellent degree, utterly unstained by the ethnic chauvinism so characteristic of His sinful brethren, which would deny justice and mercy to the foreigner.

It is by His patriotism, which is His virtue as Man, that His Majesty is the protector of His people wherever they may be and the Guarantor of their existence until the end of time. He is the God who has demonstrated His faithfulness to the covenant He made with Abraham by always preserving the Jews as an identifiable people before Him:

"Yahweh who provides the sun to shine by day, who regulates moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs the sea, making its waves roar, he whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth, says this, 'Were the established order ever to pass away before me, Yahweh declares, then the race of Israel would also cease being a nation before me!'

"Yahweh says this, 'Were the heavens above ever to be measured, the foundations of the earth below ever to be fathomed, then I too would reject the whole race of Israel for all that they have done, Yahweh declares.'" (Jeremiah 31:35:37).

By natural virtue of His Universal Kingship Jesus Christ is Sovereign over every earthly society which has sovereignty and legal personality in international law. Accordingly He is the representative of the sovereignty of the nation of Israel and of the Church, and has sovereignty over the Holy See and every Gentile nation.

As the Great High Priest of a new Priesthood which is new and better than that of the hereditary priesthood of Aaron, Jesus Christ is considered as the Sovereign of the Hereditary Priestly Order of Aaron, in so far as this body of men can be considered to be an Order. Since earthly sovereignty necessarily implies immediate, exclusive and direct subjection to Christ as sole Superior, He is named in His "Gotha" entry as Sovereign of the Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta in its capacity as a person of international law, as distinct from its capacity as a religious order, in which it is also subject to the Pope.

The Royal House of David

The House of David is the oldest reigning dynasty in the world. King David began to rule as King of Judah in c.1000 BC and acquired the Kingdom of Israel seven and a half years later. The two Kingdoms remained united as one nation until the secession of Israel in 931 BC. The Davidic Kings continued to rule in Judah in unbroken succession until this Kingdom was conquered and destroyed by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar in 536. From that point, both the political independence of the Jewish State, and the effective political jurisdiction of the House of David, ceased to exist until the coming of the Messiah.

Yet the office of the King, as a reality of the legal order, has never ceased to exist, being founded on divine right:

"He came to the One most venerable and was led into his presence. On him was conferred rule, honour and kingship, and all peoples, nations and languages became his servants. His rule is an everlasting rule which will never pass away, and his kingship will never come to an end." (Daniel 7:13-14).

ON THE SABBATH DAY OF 15 MAY 1948, BY THE DECLARATION OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL DONE AT TEL AVIV ON 14 MAY AND BY HIS OWN DIVINE PROVIDENCE, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST RESTORED THE POLITICAL INDEPENDENCE OF HIS NATION, AND THEREWITH RESUMED BOTH THE EXERCISE OF HIS HEREDITARY REGAL POWER OF THE CROWN OF DAVID WITH RESPECT TO ISRAEL AND THE HOLY LAND.

IT IS THE DUTY OF ALL PEOPLE AND AUTHORITIES, JEWISH AND GENTILE, OF HIS CIVIL PATRIMONY THE HOLY LAND TO GIVE THEIR FAITH AND ALLEGIANCE TO HIS MAJESTY JESUS, THEIR MESSIAH, THEIR LORD AND THEIR UNDOUBTED KING.

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, filled with infinite love, broken by our ingratitude and pierced by our sins, yet loving us still, accept the consecration we make to Thee of all that we are and all that we have.

Take every faculty of our souls and bodies, only day by day draw us nearer and nearer to Thy Sacred Heart, and there as we shall hear the lesson, teach us Thy Holy Way.

PRAYER OF ST MARGARET MARY ALACOQUE TO OUR LORD IN HIS CHARACTER OF KING IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

I adore Thee,O Jesus, powerful King, on Thy throne of love and mercy. Receive me as Thy slave and Thy subject, and in Thy mercy pardon me for my resistance and rebellion against Thy sovereign rule over my soul.

O gracious King, remember that Thou couldst not be merciful if Thou hadst not miserable subjects. Stretch out, therefore, Thy liberal hand, and satisfy my extreme want with the precious treasure of Thy holy love, which is nothing else than Thyself; empty me of all miserable love of myself, and of all vain human respect, which keeps me bound and chained. Come, O my Sovereign King, break my bonds, deliver me from this wretched slavery and establish Thy Empire over my heart. I wish to reign in Thine by ardent charity towards my neighbour, speaking of him only with charity, bearing with him, excusing him, doing to him only what I would wish to be done unto me, never sullying my heart or my tongue by any slander or resentment; and I will not allow anything to trouble me in order that my King may find in me an Empire of Peace.
