Jewel House
The Sceptre of Divine Mercy
"When they came to Jesus, they saw he was already dead, and so instead of breaking his legs one of the soldiers pierced his side with a lance; and immediately there came out blood and water.'" (John 19:33-34).
This Sceptre is of gold surmounted by a half-ruby and a half diamond clamped together, symbolising the blood and water which flowed from the side of Jesus crucified, and the mercy they communicate to souls in the sending of the Holy Spirit.
It is 80cm in length from its base to the top of the cross which surmounts the jewels, and represents the universal dominion of Christ over the nations, which he exercises chiefly in mercy.
